What is the Regulatory Monitoring Automation?
The Regulatory Monitoring Automation is an enterprise-grade automated web intelligence pipeline developed for Askari Bank's compliance and audit teams. It continuously monitors, crawls, and indexes 80 to 100+ domestic and international regulatory websites (such as State Bank of Pakistan, SECP, FATF, and Basel guidelines) to detect newly published circulars, legal directives, and policy updates.
What Problem Does It Solve?
In the banking sector, compliance officers previously spent over 32 hours every week manually opening dozens of regulatory portals, downloading massive PDF documents, and checking for updates. Delays in identifying new circulars could lead to regulatory penalties and compliance audit discrepancies. This system automates the entire surveillance cycle, compressing 32 hours of manual auditing down to approximately 10 minutes of automated execution.
How Does It Work?
- Multi-Portal Web Scraping: Configured automated web crawlers using Python and Selenium that handle anti-bot challenges, dynamic JavaScript rendering, and session management across 80–100+ distinct websites.
- Document Parsing at Scale: Automatically ingests and indexes over 50,000+ PDFs, DOCX files, and official notices, performing cryptographic hashing to identify newly published amendments.
- Automated Change Summaries: Extracts key policy delta clauses and circular subject matter using text parsing algorithms.
- Instant Alerting & Distribution: Triggers notifications to bank compliance leads with structured summaries and links to the source documentation.
